Ann Curry
Ann Curry is a photojournalist as well as a journalist, author and has reported on areas of war for over 45 years. Her research focuses on human suffering as well as disasters. Curry has reported on wars around the world, including in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19 1956 Agana American journalist, television anchor and news reporter. She was best known for her role as a correspondent for the Today show, a news morning show that was telecast through the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was renowned for her reporting about natural disasters as well as war torn countries. Curry's father served as a sailor within the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Curry's parents bonded in Japan, where her father had been stationed following World War II. Because of her father's work as a military officer, they moved a lot. The family eventually arrived in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. Following her graduation from the University of Oregon, Curry received a bachelor degree in journalism degree in 1978. Her exposure to different cultures and environments during her growing up years is likely to have influenced the compassion that she has for issues of international significance. Curry along with her husband were frequently moving which is why she could not remain in one place for more than 2 years. She and her husband travelled to numerous locations such as San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland was her last high school. As an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon, she started her career in the field of broadcasting. She became the first female news reporter at the station, when she was just 22. Then she was promoted to the post of anchor as well as reporter at KGW an NBC affiliate in Portland, Oregan. In the course of four years, she was appointed a reporter by KCBS TV located in Los Angeles. In the course of her work with the channel for a period of six years that she received two Emmy Awards.
